23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.

Introduction
(Young woman who wanted to sue her parents for having her because she had to get a job)
Egypt at the time of the Exodus was a difficult place to raise children. The government and culture were insane.
13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.
They became slaves. Pharaoh knew that if he could disrupt the home life he could change the children’s future. We saw last time how he made it seem impossible for a man to fulfill his covenant of providing for his own. Next he’s going to attack the woman’s covenant.
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Her covenant is childbearing and submission to her husband.
There is more to being a woman than just having babies and serving her husband, just as there is more to being a man than work, this is just their primary role given by God. A man must provide, a woman must keep the house. A woman must be strong, but not dominating. It takes a strong woman to submit to her husband when the world is in an Exodus condition.
Paul taught that one way a woman honors or submits to her husband is by wearing long hair.
3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
Paul is careful to let the people know that the woman is not a second class citizen in the Lord.
11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
God made men a helpmate, not a doormat. Remember, she was your sweetheart; she should always be that. 64-0830E — Questions And Answers #4
He goes on to say that her hair is her covering.
13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
A woman’s covenant is to be a keeper or worker at home. Paul tells the older women to teach this to the younger women.
3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Satan is going to try to change this during the time of the Exodus, to keep the promise from being fulfilled.
(Pharoah’s counselor)
Look, you’ve got the man working. You make them have a till of bricks, so many each day, make them make them out of stubble. You’ve killed the little children and things, but they’re still increasing. The thing you ought to do, is put the women to work, too. If you put the women to work, then they won’t…” Now, that’s not a woman’s place. No.
So they said, “But you put the women to work, and put them out there, and let them make brick, too. And then they’ll be so tired when they come in, they can’t cook their husband’s supper, they can’t be a good mama, see. And so if they’re going to work and go on like that, so they won’t be able to do it. So, you put them to work, too.” 56-0513 — Teaching On Moses
This has happened in our time.
Bro. Branham didn’t shame women who had to work.
(Margie Cox, diabetes test)
The little lady works day and night, almost, up there, to…loyal little mother, to help her husband to pay for their home that they’re trying to build. And her and her little sister, Nellie, and Charlie, that’s the brother of Rodney, his wife, and all of them working together at them factories there, just as hard as they can go.
And standing the reproach, they let their hair grow out, and taking make-up off, things like that, when become Christians. I believe in giving credit where credit is deserved. And I certainly have a warm place in my heart for those two young women. 63-1124M — What Shall I Do With Jesus Called Christ?
The motive matters.
Brother Branham, are women allowed to work in public affairs when they have a healthy husband and children? I am asking this question for someone else.
Well, I don’t know about that. I can’t say. But I just have this feeling. Let me say this: I believe, if I was a woman and I knowed that my husband was healthy and had a good job, working, I believe it would be a great pleasure to me to stay home, take care of my children... and raise them up, and to love the Lord. And if I had any time from my washing and things that I was going to do, I think I would teach my children how to serve the Lord.
Now, if you’ve got a debt or something that you’re trying to help your husband pay for, or something that you have to do that…Well, I think that’s fine if you’ll try to help him. And you live a lady.
(Office with dirty jokes)
But now, if a woman can hold herself as a real lady and trying to help her husband do something to meet some clothes for the kids to go to school, or pay off a bill, or something like that, and she wants to work till that’s over…Now, this not the Lord, ’cause I don’t have no Scripture for this.
I’m just saying that’d be my opinion; but otherwise, I wouldn’t think just ’cause she wants to work just to run around and have, or, more money to spend, run around, and run to barrooms, or drink, smoke, and carry on; I don’t think she should do it. I think she should stay home, try to be a lady, and take care of her house. 64-0823E — Questions And Answers #2
In order to counter the growth of the Israelites they tried to destroy all the male children.
Pharoah and the midwives.
20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.
Because they feared God rather than man, they were blessed financially.
22 And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.
(Witches with long fingernails. Women Police)
1 And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.
2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
Paul tells us that the faith of Moses’ parents was expressed by the act of hiding Moses for three months. They saw something in him that others did not see.
3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.
4 And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.
There are two parts to raising a child just as there were with Moses parents. Hiding them, and then letting them go.
Jochebed faced a dilemma in her covenant to care for her children. She could only hide Moses so long, then she had to let him go.
Bro. Branham said Amram had a dream, and he started building a little boat made of reeds.
There’s a time to pray, and a time to build.
She said, “Have you been in the basement praying this time of night, Amram?” Said, “No. I’ve been in the basement, praising God.” Said, “What you been doing?” Said, “I want to tell you. Now, you know them old witches is coming back.” “Yeah.”
“And I want to tell you what we’re going to do. We’ve had the baby now for three months, and we’ve got to get rid of it.” “Oh, Amram! You got to do what?” “We’ve got to get rid of the baby.” “Get rid of the baby?” “Yeah.” “Oh, you’re cruel!” “No, I’m not cruel. No, no, no. I know what I’m doing.”
“What do you mean? Why, you’ll be as bad as Pharaoh. Going to get rid of our baby?” “Yeah, going to get rid of the baby.” “Oh, we can’t!” “Now listen. If we keep it, we’re going to lose it. And if we give it to the One Who gave it to us, He’ll find it.” 56-0513 — Teaching On Moses
At some point her efforts to help the child would only endanger it, she had to let it go.
This is difficult for a real mother.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it.
When a tree is young you can tie it to a post to make it grow straight, but if you put a rope around a mature tree, it will not change it’s direction, it will only wound the tree.
A mother wants her children to be at home. That never changes. But if a child is wasting their money on drugs and alcohol, and you give them a free place to stay, sometimes you are hindering the child more than you are helping.
Let God be God. We don’t understand what God is doing.
(Jeremiah and Israel)
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
But we don’t always know, you know. God works in mysterious ways His wonders to perform. If we commit anything to God and believe it, like our children or whatever more, let’s believe that God will answer that prayer. Today ’fore I left to go away, the phone constantly ringing, and the mothers with their children and saying, “Now, pray for them.”
I say, “Now, just commit them to God. That’s all you have to do. And don’t put your hands on it anymore. Let God have it. If you’re going to do something about it, then God will stand back and let you go ahead till you get finished. But when you commit it to God and let Him have it, then He will do it.”
You just believe Him. Just stand back, and don’t work, but believe. That’s where grace is imputed for righteousness, to believe that God will. 61-0215 — Thou Son Of David, Have Mercy On Me
And that’s the way it is, anything. As long as you’re going to do it…If someone talks about you, and you talk back about them, God can’t fight your battle; you’re fighting it yourself. See? Just let loose and let Him do it. And just commit it to Him.
The greatest weapon that I know of, of a Christian today, is a committal to God. When you can’t do nothing about it, just commit it to Him, and God will take care of it. 51-0722A — Life Story
Most mothers have to do this at 18, or 21, but Moses mother did it at 3 months.
In order to do this Jochebed had to have confidence in two things.
The ark they had made.
The Providence of God.
(Tell story of going down to the river before daylight, seeing the fat crocodiles)
What do you think is going on in Heaven, about this time? Hallelujah! You know, when things goes on down here, there is something going on up There, too. Amen!
(Jehovah calls Gabriel over to watch the scene. “I still have people who trust me”)
The father is walking in the water, starts to push the little boat out. I can hear Him say, “Gabriel!” “Yes, Lord?” “Call ten thousand Angels to the scene. Give them marching orders right away. Call the hosts of Heaven out.
Send them all up-and-down, along the banisters of Heaven, and put them all up-and-down the Nile. I command that no crocodile will touch that cargo! Nothing will touch it! Don’t even let a chunk of wood come near it.” Hallelujah!
Gabriel said, “It shall be done.” My! He sounded a trumpet! Ten thousand Angels come in arm! “The Pilot. Where You going to be, Lord?”
“I’ll be at the other end.” He’s always on the receiving end. “I’ll wait down at the other end. I got a purpose. When people will trust Me, I have something, a purpose; it’ll be all right with them.” 56-0513 — Teaching On Moses
